SOMD Recording Studio

Lance Miller, Chief Engineer

The University of Oregon Recording Studio Facility is run by Lance Miller.

Lance was key in the concept and design of this studio, and has a state of the art place to create audio works with the University’s faculty and students.  The control room looks into  Aasen-Hull Hall, or “The Cube” as it is affectionately called. It is the home of many large ensembles, but also is a spacious recording room.

Across the hall is the jazz room, 184. This room features 2 isolation booths with continuous sight lines, and a 500 sq. foot live room. This is the home of the jazz combos as well as the Recording Arts courses. This room also is a self-contained recording studio with an iMac and 16 channels of Presonus preamps for a complete in-room recording and rehearsal facility.

The 3rd space connected to the studio’s control room is historic Beall Hall. Via ethernet, Beall Hall is a fully capable multi-track recording space with some of the best chamber hall acoustics anywhere.
